Research Assistant Salary: £23,560 - 26,200 p.a. dependent on experience
Research Associate Salary: £23,560 - £34,330 p.a. dependent on experience
We are looking for two Research Assistants/Associates to work on a new EU funded project, WASP (Wirelessly Accessible Sensor Populations), to develop a new generation of intelligent sensor networks for pervasive sensing. Experience in any of the following areas will be preferred:
* Multi-sensor fusion, pattern recognition, data mining and knowledge discovery
* Machine learning and decision support
* Embedded systems, wireless sensor networks and automatic systems
* Large-scale real-time databases
WASP aims to facilitate collaboration between industry and academics in applying the developments in wireless sensor networks (WSN) to `real life' situations. The general goal of the project is the provision of a complete system view for building large populations of collaborating objects. This will be demonstrated with the development of systems for three chosen business areas:
* assisted road transport
* elderly care benefits (Imperial engagement)
* herd health control.
The project is set to run for three and a half years (42 months) from September 2006.
The posts are for a fixed term of 36 months. Research Assistant applicants should have a distinction-level Masters degree (or equivalent) in computer science, electrical engineering or medical physics. Research Associate applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) in computer science, electrical engineering or medical physics. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven research record in relevant areas.
Additional information: Additional information on the project is expected to appear on the link below:
http://www.wasp-project.org/
Applications should include a College application form, which can be obtained from: http://www.imperial.ac.uk/employment/academicform.htm. Please quote reference: "WASP".
A 1-2 page research statement should be provided outlining interesting research issues relating to one or more of the above posts and why your expertise is relevant.
Applications must include a full CV, stating the names and addresses of two referees and should be sent to:
